Introducing the banknotes

The countdown has begun! Soon the Bank of England will release four brand new banknotes. These banknotes will look identical to the existing versions, apart from one important change. The portraits of the late Queen Elizabeth, will be replaced by those of her son, King Charles III.

The new King Charles III banknotes will officially enter circulation on the fifth of June, and will run alongside the current Queen Elizabeth II versions, which will remain legal tender. The new banknotes will only be printed and released to replace damaged notes, and meet any increasing banknote demand. This ensures a limited environmental and financial impact, while giving you enough time to prepare your business.

Prepare your business

Once the King Charles III banknotes are introduced, a total of eight Great British Pound banknotes will be circulating at the same time. In order to ensure the best counting and detection results for all versions, it is important that you not only update your processes but also your device.

Updating your device is a very straightforward and free process. Simply visit our download section and select your device. Then all you have to do is download the correct update and follow the included instructions to install it. Within a few minutes your device is updated and ready to process both the current and new banknotes. It's that easy!

Please note that you do not have to update your device if you have the Safescan 35, 40H, 40, 45, 50, 70, 85, 235, 1250, 1550, 2210, 2250, 2265, 2610, 2650, 2850, 6165, 6175, or 6185. These solutions are not affected by the change or are already fully compatible with the new notes and able to check, count, and process them.

2.	You must have an authentication medium. Maestro payments over the Internet are protected by an authentication medium. Depending on the bank, this may be a card reader, a password, or something else. Contact your bank if you don’t yet have an authentication medium.
3.	You must have received a SecureCode. To make payments over the Internet using your Maestro card, you must have a SecureCode. If you don’t have one, contact your bank.

1.	Go to www.safescan.com and log in to your Safescan account (or create one, if you don’t already have one).
2.	If you purchased your item at Safescan.com, go to your order history and click on the “return request” option. Complete the form to submit your request.
3.	If you purchased your Safescan product from one of our authorised dealers, go to “My returns” and fill in the form to submit your request. (You will need your purchase invoice or receipt for this.)
4.	We will contact you by email as quickly as we can with further instructions on how to return your product. These instructions will include your return label and unique RMA return number. Please wait for these instructions before returning your product to us; without both the return label and RMA number, we cannot accept your return.
